JORUNNERSBURG14 carries prize money on the 14K because a city that has produced generations of champions deserves a proper race at the front. The 7K is a celebration distance — medals, not money, and no prize-giving.

Prize Money Policy & Rules

1) General

• Prize money applies to the 14K only, in the categories published in the final prize schedule.

• Prize money is paid only after results are verified and all eligibility requirements are met.

• The organisers may withhold or reclaim prize money if any rule is breached (false information, ineligibility, anti-doping violations).

2) Eligibility

To qualify, an athlete must:

• Be officially entered for the 14K and start in the correct start (if applicable).

• Complete the full course and be recorded on the official timing system (gun-to-mat).

• Compete fairly and comply with all ASA/CGA and Event rules.

• Meet category requirements (Open / Junior / Veteran / Master etc.) where prizes are category-based.

• Wear your age-category letter or tag (J / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70) visibly on the front and back of your vest, as per ASA rules, so referees can identify you on route and at the finish. Athletes not wearing the correct category tag will be considered for Open prizes only.

• Be an ASA-registered athlete, or a foreign athlete meeting participation requirements, where the category requires it.

3) Prize Category Rules (no double-dipping)

• One prize per athlete — the highest-value prize they qualify for.

• No double-dipping across Open and Age categories.

• Team prizes (if any) require correct club/team entry and compliance with team scoring rules.

4) Anti-Doping & Verification

• The race supports anti-doping testing where applicable.

• Prize money is subject to result verification (timing checks, route compliance, photo/video review) and anti-doping processes.

• Refusal or evasion of testing results in disqualification and forfeiture.

5) Protests, Appeals & Disqualifications

• Protests must be submitted in writing to the Race Referee within 30 minutes of provisional results being posted.

• The Referee's decision is final on the day, subject to formal athletics processes.

• Disqualification can result from course cutting, unsporting conduct, running under another person's name, incorrect bib wearing, or unauthorised assistance.

• Age-category placings without a visible category tag will not be recognised — referees cannot identify you.

6) How to Claim

Present at the Prize Verification Desk:

• A) Identification — valid SA ID or passport.

• B) Proof of ASA/CGA status — valid licence card or proof of club/ASA registration where required.

• C) Banking & payment — bank confirmation letter or stamped statement, completed Prize Claim Form, SARS/tax details where applicable.

• D) Contact details — mobile number and email.

7) Payment Process & Timelines

• EFT only. No cash on race day.

• Processed after final results are confirmed.

• Standard payout: 14–30 working days after race day.

• Bank charges are for the recipient's account.

8) Taxes

• Prize money may be subject to tax reporting or withholding under South African law. Athletes are responsible for their tax affairs.

9) Good to Know

• Prize-giving is for the 14K only, at 09:00 at the finish venue. Prize winners are required to attend in race kit.

• Winners may be asked to participate in media, podium photos and sponsor activations.

• Prize money applies to designated categories and distances only (as published on the race website and in the final prize schedule).

• Prize money is paid only after results are verified and all eligibility requirements are met.

• The organisers reserve the right to withhold or reclaim prize money if any rule is breached (including false information, ineligibility, or anti-doping violations).

2) Women’s-Only Event & Prize Money

• Women's Half is a women-only race. Prize money is awarded exclusively to eligible women athletes.

• Only athletes who are eligible to compete in the women’s category in line with the event entry conditions and applicable athletics rules will be eligible for prize money.

• Any athlete found to have entered under an incorrect category or provided false information will be disqualifiedand will forfeit prize money and awards.

3) Eligibility

To qualify for prize money, an athlete must:

• Be officially entered for the event and start in the correct start batch for their category (if applicable).

• Complete the correct course and be recorded on the official timing system (gun/mat rules as published for the race).

• Compete fairly and comply with all ASA/CGA rules and event rules.

• Meet category requirements (Open / Junior / Veteran / etc.) where prizes are category-based.

• Where relevant: be an ASA-registered athlete (or foreign athlete meeting participation requirements) and comply with rules around eligibility for SA championships or restricted categories (if any apply).

4) Prize Category Rules (no double-dipping)

Unless your published prize schedule states otherwise:

• Category winners receive prize money as per the published prize schedule (e.g., Open and/or Age Categories).

• One prize per athlete (the highest-value prize they qualify for).

• No “double-dipping” across categories (e.g., an athlete cannot win both Open and Age Category prizes for the same race).

• Team prizes (if any) require athletes to be entered under the correct club/team and comply with team scoring rules.

5) Anti-Doping & Verification

• The race supports anti-doping testing (where applicable).

• Prize money is subject to:

  • Result verification (timing checks, route compliance, photo/video review if needed)

  • Anti-doping processes (where testing is conducted)

• If an athlete is selected for testing, they must comply fully. Refusal or evasion may result in disqualification and forfeiture of prizes.

6) Protests, Appeals & Disqualifications

• Any protests must be submitted in writing to the Race Referee/Technical Official within the time window communicated on race day (commonly within 30 minutes of provisional results being posted).

• The Referee’s decision is final on the day, subject to formal athletics processes where applicable.

• Disqualification can result from (including but not limited to):

  • Course cutting or not completing the full route

  • Unsporting conduct

  • Running under another person’s name / bib transfer

  • Not wearing the official bib correctly

  • Receiving unauthorised assistance where prohibited

7) How to claim your prize money

Winners must present the following at the Prize Verification Desk (or as instructed by organisers):

A) Identification

• Valid South African ID or passport (foreign athletes).

B) Proof of ASA/CGA status (if applicable to your prize categories)

• Valid ASA licence card for the current season OR

• Proof of club/ASA registration (where required by the category/prize conditions).

C) Banking & payment details

• A bank confirmation letter or stamped bank statement (showing account holder name + account number).

• Completed Prize Claim Form (provided by organisers).

• SARS/tax details where applicable (especially for larger payouts).

D) Contact details

• Mobile number and email address for payment confirmation.

If an athlete cannot provide the required documents, prize payment may be delayed until verification is complete.

8) Payment Process & Timelines

• Prize money is paid by EFT only (no cash payments on race day, unless explicitly stated).

• Payments are processed after final results are confirmed.

• Standard payout timeline: within 14–30 working days after race day, depending on verification, protest periods, and anti-doping requirements.

• Bank charges (if any) are the responsibility of the recipient’s bank.

9) Taxes & Withholding

• Prize money may be subject to tax reporting or withholding in line with South African law and/or sponsor requirements.

• Athletes are responsible for ensuring their tax affairs are in order.

10) Good to know

• Presentation ceremony: Athletes who place in prize positions may be required to attend the official prize-giving in race kit or appropriate attire.

• Media & photos: Winners may be asked to participate in media, podium photos, and sponsor activations.

• Unclaimed prizes: Any prize not claimed within 60 days (or your chosen period) may be forfeited.
